Ukraine reported a fresh round of Russian drone and missile strikes, with officials in Kharkiv describing injuries and damage to civilian infrastructure. Local authorities said residential buildings and public facilities were hit, and they reported widespread power disruption affecting much of the city and surrounding areas.
In Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian officials said a drone strike hit a high-rise residential building and triggered a fire. Kyiv also reported damage connected to the strikes, including impacts to a major religious site that authorities described as a cultural landmark.
Russia reports drone interceptions; Ukraine says it struck energy infrastructure
On the Russian side, regional officials reported casualties linked to Ukrainian drone attacks in a border area, while Russia’s defense ministry said air defenses intercepted and destroyed dozens of drones overnight, including a large number in the Krasnodar region.
Ukraine’s military, meanwhile, said it struck an oil-refining facility in Russia’s Krasnodar region, describing impacts to parts of the primary processing infrastructure. Local Russian officials also described fires and damage tied to falling debris from drones that were shot down.
Air defenses, diplomacy, and the territorial question
As the aerial campaign continues, NATO’s secretary-general warned that Ukraine’s interception rate has dropped as Kyiv runs short of weapons for air defense, underscoring the conflict’s ongoing dependence on supply levels and resupply timelines.
The diplomatic track remains constrained by the issue of territory. Russia has continued to frame control of territory—particularly in the east—as a fundamental requirement for any settlement, while European officials have criticized Moscow’s posture on the territorial question.
